Art is in the eye of the beholder, but this is just ridiculously exaggerated by an overachieving torture artist.

In this book we have victims who kind of die by their own hands. It is so unique and different and again so well explained. They are all entertainers and they all look alike. Hunter is of course on the hunt for the perpetrator and the way to catch him is to understand him and the reasoning behind the crimes.When the forensic team reaches the spot for doing further investigation, they find that the letter ‘3’ was carved in blood on the chest of the victim. Robert Hunter initially believes that the killing was ritualistic. But when more and more dead bodies begin to surface after being murdered in a similar manner, he is forced to think otherwise. Hunter & Garcia cannot work out what the killer is telling them the deeper they go they find another woman dead, the motive is the same stitched up & this time the medical examiner found a knife in the women's body, Hunter & Garcia felt a pattern emerging & this time the killer left a message He's INSIDE YOU!!! what this means they don't know. At the time of publication this short story was able to preview book one and give a brief taster to the next book in the series. The plot is fantastic, paced well from the start, the dialogue is great, the characters really shine, the story reveals itself bit by bit but you really are kept guessing for the majority of the book, no clues as to the killer's identity or indeed if Robert Hunter is going to get even close to capturing the killer in time before more and more lives are lost in this most barbaric of ways.

A case that will test him to the limit – you would be emotionally, mentally, and physically drained and that’s just the reader. Even a seasoned detective like Robert Hunter would need psychiatric help after solving a case of this magnitude and level of brutality. The most interesting character I encountered in The caller was Mr.J and I wouldn't mind if he got to the murderer first and spared me from yet another installment the Hunter vs. The killer trope. I even found his storyline and investigation far more interesting than the one the two detectives lead. But this discovery does more than just link the two killings – it suggests that this is the work of a serial murderer.
